March 9, 2010: Secure Usage of DDM on System i with MDSEC 6.6!

DDM stands for Distributed Data Management
and provides a simple means for accessing and updating data on a target iSeries (System i) using programs running on a local iSeries system.

MDCMS, for example, uses DDM for synchronizing Project and Workflow information as well as for tracking object migrations across systems. If DDM is allowed to be used without sufficient security measures in place, then a significant risk exists that data could be read and manipulated by otherwise unauthorized persons. The DDM Security feature of MDSEC can be used to exclude unauthorized users as well as to manage which Data objects may be accessed or manipulated via DDM.

October 19, 2009: A large Swiss Bank with local presence in Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Asia has now licensed MDCMS to manage and distribute updates for its Olympic Banking applications.

July 6, 2009: A new MDCMS version, containing functionality to handle Open Platform objects using the graphical Eclipse IDE, is currently in intensive Beta testing at a large customer installation.
Thanks to the valuable feedback resulting from the close cooperation with the customer, some functions have been further enhanced. The test progress is proceeding well and the new version is expected to be released during Q3-2009.

October 27, 2008: Midrange Dynamics is currently enhancing the MDMCS functionality to handle non-iSeries objects and files. That means MDCMS can fully handle the receipt, distribution and installation of software objects in multi-platform environments (e.g. a MIDAS delivery containing COBOL/RPG programs to be installed on the iSeries as well as e.g. Java objects to be installed on a Windows or UNIX server). The whole process is under control of MDCMS including auditability (Sarbanes-Oxley compliance) and archiving of the changes.
